Engine details: |
This car was originally a 427/435 HP L71. I blew the engine twice during my ownership and finally pulled the engine and installed a new in-the-crate 370 HP LT-1 350. I sold the blown 427/435 to a fellow who rebuilt it and put it in a 1968 GTO. Later, he moved to Arizona. |
Other details: |
I think this car was a lemon. I bought it in 1971 and traded it to a local Chevrolet dealer in 1974 for a 1973 Corvette. The entire time I owned this car, I had nothing but problems with it. The aforementioned engine, clutches, starters, water pump, alternator, headlight actuators, wiper door actuator. I was thrilled to get rid of it. |

Car history: |
The car was purchased new by Robert Mills of Silver Spring, MD on Dec. 5, 1969 for $5029.48. He sold or traded the car to Lustine Chevrolet in Hyattsville, MD on October 4, 1971. The car then apparently went to auction where it was purchased by Quality Used Cars in Wilkesboro, NC. It was then sold to Poor Boy Motors in Winston-Salem, NC. They then sold it to Colony Dodge in Winston-Salem, NC. This is the dealer I bought it from. At that time, Colony Dodge sold tons of used Corvettes. Their whole front row was used Corvettes. I traded the car in February 1974 to Everett Chevrolet in Hickory, NC for a 1973 Corvette coupe. I know they wholesaled the car but I never knew where it went after that and I never saw it again. |
